Junior Team Tennis – Spring/Summer 2015

Junior Team Tennis (JTT) is the largest junior tennis league in the United States. JTT is a program offered by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) which offers children the opportunity to develop their individual and team tennis skills in a fun, yet competitive atmosphere.


Coed teams made up of at least three boys and three girls. Each team match will consist of one girls’ and one boys’ singles, one girls’ and one boys’ doubles, and one mixed doubles match. Scoring will be short sets consisting of four games, and two of three sets. A winning team is determined by the total number of games won per each individual match.

Advancing Levels: 12U, 14U & 18U Open (Winner of League will be “ELIGIBLE” to play in Sectional tournament in Jan. hosted by ODU)

Match Times

Matches will be played week nights 5:30-7:00PM

10U & 12U Boys and Girls Play Thursdays

14U Boys and Girls Play Tuesdays

18U Boys and Girls Play Wednesdays

$75 plus $20 for USTA annual membership fee
Single Gender Age cut off January 9th 2016

Formats & Scoring

– 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes
– Single Gender
– Minimum of 4 players
– Recommended maximum of 6 players
– Forfeits occur if a team has less than 4 players for a match
– 3 rounds total
– Round 1 is 1 doubles and 2 singles matches
– Round 2 is 1 doubles and 2 singles matches
– Round 3 is 2 doubles matches
– 1 set to 6 with no-ad, regular game played at 5-5
– Team match determined by total number of games won
– 3 courts
– Yellow ball for 14U and 18U
– For teams of 6 or less, each player will play a minimum of twice per team match
– No players should play singles more than once during a team match unless less than 4 players are present on their team
– Any players who did not play singles during that team match must be first priority for the next match they play
– If only 3 players are present from one team, there will be a total of 2 defaults per team match (1doubles and 1 singles)
– Match format will switch to 1 doubles and 1 singles each round
– When only 3 players are present from a team, a “practice” match should be played with players from the opposing team each round
