Summer 2020 Tennis Express

June thru August: we will be running a TENNIS EXPRESS program with Jennifer Toomy and Dave Hardy. This is a great opportunity to get some high-quality instruction with low student to Pro ratio. Keeping within very safe COVID guidelines.

 Here is what we have planned starting June 1:

  • OUTDOOR PLAY on 4 courts
  • 4 players per court
  • Social distancing will be adhered to the entire time 
  • Players will not touch balls…only Pros
  • Players must bring own towels, water, chairs, umbrellas, snacks
  • Monday thru Friday

       9am-10:30AM or 10:30-12:00 $125 per week

       9am-12:00 $250 per week

Weekly pre-paid signups ONLY.  Do not miss your opportunity; the last 3 weeks have been completely filled. Spots limited to keep safety #1.

Tennis Express protocol:

Please know there will be strict social distancing practiced which is outlined below.

On the first day please have your player meet me at 8:45 (or 10:30 if coming for the second half) in the grass between the outdoor tennis courts for their court assignment. There will be no access through the building.

On their assigned court they will find an S hook with their name on it. They will hang their racket bag on the hook and set up their resting station. Benches and score cards have been removed. Each court will have 4 players.

IMPORTANT: Items to bring

  • Chair
  • umbrella for shade
  • sunscreen,
  • towel
  • hand sanitizer
  • snacks if desired
  • enough water for the entire morning!

Until the indoor facility reopens: There will be no access to the building, with the exception of a bathroom break ONLY if needed. There will be one available bathroom inside, and it will be disinfected after every use. This is the only time a player will be permitted to enter the building.

The players are not permitted to touch the teaching balls! If we play points with serves each player will be given a new can of balls which they will initial and serve with the entire week.

Please call the desk the by Friday June 5th to pay. We have limited spots and a waiting list. If payment is not made by Friday 1 pm the spot may be offered to the next player in line on the waiting list.  FRONT desk is 757-683-5312 or leave Mary a message via the phone or email her at majordan@odu.edu.  We are very short staffed and often not at the front desk.

Rain: If we get through most of the session. There will be no credit or refund. If complete rain out we will have a rain make up week TBD.

Safety is our first concern and we will do everything possible to ensure this is a SAFE and FUN experience for all! Please let me know if you have any questions.
